Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

HitherThither (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”) helps you plan and organize travel. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using HitherThither at hitherthither.co, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
  • Trip and planning data. The destinations, dates, preferences, itineraries, notes, photos, and reactions you provide while planning a trip.
  • Content you upload. Itineraries you import and photos you add to a Travel Chronicle.
  • Usage data. Basic technical information such as device type, browser, and pages viewed, used to operate and improve the Service.

How we use your information

  • To create, build, and personalize your trips and recommendations.
  • To learn your travel tastes so suggestions improve over time.
  • To send you trip-related and account emails (you can opt out of non-essential email).
  • To operate, secure, and improve the Service.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run HitherThither, and only as needed to provide the Service:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and photo storage.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI — AI processing of your planning inputs to generate itineraries, captions, and suggestions.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Google (Places), Pexels, OpenStreetMap, Duffel, and travel partners — to find venues, imagery, map locations, and bookable options.
  • Upstash — rate limiting to keep the Service reliable.

Some partner booking links use affiliate tracking so the partner can credit bookings to HitherThither — this is how planning stays free. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Travel vibes — dietary and accessibility answers

If you share dietary needs or accessibility/mobility preferences in a travel vibe, we treat them with extra care: they are used only to shape itineraries for trips you are part of — never for advertising, never for analytics, never shared beyond the AI processing that builds your plan. You can edit or delete them anytime from the vibe quiz, or by contacting us.

If someone added you to a trip

A trip planner may add your name (and optionally your email) so the itinerary can reflect your preferences. We use that information only for that trip. You can set your own preferences via your invitation link, and you can remove your information at any time using the “remove my info” link on that page or by emailing us.

Content you publish

If you choose to share a Travel Chronicle via a public link, the content on that page (text and photos you added) becomes viewable by anyone with the link until you unpublish it.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your trips at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Your choices and rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your information by editing it in the app or contacting us.
  • Request a copy of your data or full account deletion.
  • Opt out of non-essential emails.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

Children

HitherThither is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
